Assessment and education of the firewood supply chain

In collaboration with the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program, we recently conducted an assessment of the firewood supply chain. The are planning to develop an outreach and educational campaign targeting producers, vendors and consumers about safe firewood production, transportation and use to reduce the risk of risk posed by this forest product as pathway for spread of invasive species. In additional to thematic workshops targeting producers and vendors of firewood, the program includes a full-scale social media campaign on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube (dedicated channel), and conventional media campaign using radio post cards, mail, videos, and weblinks.
