For those of you who grew up on or around a farm, you know that the plants and animals don’t take days off. Our college is different than many others in this way. While our students and faculty could learn and teach from home, our farm managers and workers did not have this option.

Doug Buhler, director of MSU AgBioResearch, and assistant vice president for research and innovation at MSU, set the stage for our early COVID-19 response. Our priority was the health and well-being of our people and our commitment to the growers and producers of Michigan, who rely on our work as research and development.

Working hand-in-hand with the University, industry partners, researchers and MSU Extension educators from around the state, we managed not only to complete a growing season but also to produce a series of Virtual Field Days, which engaged growers and producers from around Michigan, and beyond.
