2021 Michigan 4-H Skillathon

What is the Skillathon?

A comprehensive test of your knowledge about all things agriculture, especially livestock! Participants will complete multiple choice questions in the areas of:

Beef, Horses, Sheep, Swine, Dairy, Goats, Dogs, Rabbits, Poultry, and General Knowledge (Animal Care & Well-Being, Tools, Crops, Biosecurity, etc.).

Who is eligible to compete?

Compete with youth from your region for prizes and the chance to advance to the State Championship on April 10th.

How old do you have to be to compete?

Competition Levels include:

Novice (Ages 8-11)
Junior (Ages 12-14)
Senior (Ages 15-19
Adult (20+)

How do you qualify for the State Championship?

Contestants that finish in the top 20^th percentile are eligible to compete for the State Championship title.

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee and all contestants will receive a Skillathon t-shirt!

March 6, 2021: Region 1: Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan

This region is open to 4-H members from the following counties: Alcona, Alger, Alpena, Antrim, Arenac, Baraga, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Clare, Crawford, Delta, Dickinson, Emmet, Gladwin, Gogebic, Grand Traverse, Houghton, Iosco, Iron, Isabella, Kalkaska, Keweenaw, Leelanau, Luce, Mackinac, Manistee, Marquette, Mecosta, Menominee, Missaukee, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Ontonagon, Osceola, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, Schoolcraft, and Wexford.

March 13, 2021: Region 2: Southwestern Michigan

This region is open to 4-H members from the following counties: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lake, Mason, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Ottawa, St. Joseph, and Van Buren.

March 20, 2021: Region 3: Southeastern Michigan

This region is open to 4-H members from the following counties: Bay, Genesee, Hillsdale, Huron, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Midland, Monroe, Oakland, Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Tuscola, Washtenaw, and Wayne.

April 10, 2021: State Championship

Contestants who place in the top 20^th percentile of each Regional age division will qualify for the Michigan 4-H Market Livestock Skillathon Championship held on April 10, 2021.
