This position supports the Forest Health and Cooperative Programs Section by conducting Forest Health outreach, field surveys and response activities for high priority native or invasive pests and diseases and invasive plants such as hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA), Heterobasidion root disease (HRD) and oak wilt (OW). The Forest Health Forester will conduct outreach activities to include communications efforts, presentations, and responding to public inquiries. This position will conduct survey and response activities to include developing weekly schedules for survey, drafting work plans, drafting reports, communicating with partners, securing permissions for response activities, quality control of survey data, and providing training to partners and stakeholders on HWA response and other issues. This position may be eligible for a remote work location, such as from home, at least part of the year.
