Student Media/Communications Assistant – Forest Carbon & Climate Program

Position description: Looking for academic experience where your work will contribute to combatting climate change and protecting forests? The successful candidate will help edit and prepare online learning presentations and supplemental materials for professional development courses centered on forests, carbon, and climate education. The selected candidate will work with the Learning Specialist to transfer online professional development courses from the Desire2Learn platform to Coursera. The candidate will work with eLearning software and platforms, as well as other video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Camtasia. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Editing and trimming course video files
  • Exporting course video files and transcripts
  • Uploading and reviewing class presentations and supplemental materials on Coursera
  • Learning and implementing Coursera design systems and best practices
  • Organizing files and online course space
  • Working with Learning Specialist on additional course related tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled MSU undergraduate student
  • Interest in forestry or natural resources, environmental economics, and/or climate policy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in natural resources, education, or design fields
  • Willing to learn new software programs for simple course design and video editing

Compensation: Pay commensurate with experience.

Time Frame: Position is available immediately and will require 10-15 hours/week.

Working Conditions: The position will primarily involve computer work.

Location: Position is based at East Lansing campus, but has been identified as remote-friendly, meaning all or some of the work can be performed remotely by mutual agreement.
