Here's what our campers got up to today!!
Jane and Trixi
Therapy dogs are the best! Today Jane came in with her therapy dog, Trixie, for the kids to play with. She’s a graduate of Pawstine Changes Therapy Dog Program and such a good girl! The campers LOVED her, and it was a fun way to kick off camp in the morning.
Goat hike!
Each pepper group had so much fun walking our baby goats. Some of them are stubborn and don’t want to be walked and like to stop and eat the grass.
Animal Chores
As you can tell there’s a theme that each group does a chore to help on the farm! It consists of chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats and horses. They love playing with our bunnies and walking our baby goats! Tollgate’s pony Sesame got groomed today to get her all nice and clean.
STEAM Creature Creation: habitat/product
The clay has finally dried, and campers are ready to paint their creatures! They got super creative with their designs which turned out so good! These campers have such great imaginations, it is so wonderful to see how they started with a drawing on pencil and paper, to now having almost a final product!
Egg Dissection
You heard that right, campers dissected an egg! They observed all the bumps on the shell with a magnifying glass. Along with looking at the inner and outer membrane after they cracked the egg.
Fishy Story
Here's a story of a fish named Freddy! He swims down a stream which connects to the Detroit River. Campers talked about all the things that could pollute our rivers and lakes then effect the animals.
Garden Kitchen: Sun butter and jelly Swiss rolls, deviled eggs
Everyone has been raving about Garden Kitchen and LOVE the recipes. Today was another day, the campers made a yummy sun butter and jelly Swiss roll. As they waited, telephone was a popular game the campers were playing. In the afternoon, campers made deviled eggs! With so much energy by the afternoon in garden kitchen every pepper group was giggling, making jokes and having a blast.
Fishing
Campers put their skills to the test and went fishing in the pond today! Many of them caught fish in each pepper group. While fishing, they spotted our snapping turtle that the campers have named Bertha and looks like there’s another snapping turtle in the pond as well!
