2023 Equine Science Horse Camp Day 1
Welcome to our specialty horse camp!!
Safety and Senses
While being around horses, campers learn the safety of horses. They watched a video explaining their senses and that they need to learn how to trust you. They can apply what they learned when they ride the horses this afternoon.
Helmet Activity
When you ride a horse it’s important to always wear a helmet. It helps protects your head if you happen to fall off a horse. Today, campers simulated how it can protect you with a cup, straws, yarn, and an egg. Once they got the egg protected, they dropped it to see if what they made protected the egg.
Parts of a horse
There are many different parts of a horse and today campers have learned about them! They were given a worksheet to label the horse. Once they were done, they were given the answers on a labeled sheet.
Horse time
After learning about safety, senses and parts of a horse. Campers were able to ride either Sedona or Grizz. They did so well and once everyone was done, they got their photo taken. Then they will get to paint a cute picture frame to take home at the end of the week!
