Celebrate this summer staple with Michigan’s Cucumber Crunch!
Celebrate this summer staple with Michigan’s Cucumber Crunch. Each summer, Michigan celebrates the delicious and nutritious cucumber harvest. This year, the celebration is going virtual and we invite you to join with a crunch event any time in August!!
Here’s how to get started:
- Find information and resources from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Michigan Department of Education, including a flyer, instructions for food distribution sites, and a quiz.
- Read a new article by our MSU Extension partner, Mariel Borgman, about this summertime farm to institution celebration.
- Use our Cultivate Michigan Sourcing Guide and promotional materials to plan and promote your crunch.
- Source and serve cucumbers at your food distribution site or food service program. Cucumber slices are delicious on their own and easy to add to water, salads, sandwiches and more!
- Share your activities and spread the word on social media! #micucumbercrunch, #cultivatemichigan
