George Bird recognized as a 2015 NCR-SARE Hero

NCR-SARE recently announced that MSU’s George Bird and Iowa State University professor emeritus Jerry DeWitt are being honored as 2015 NCR-SARE Heroes.

NCR-SARE recently announced that MSU’s George Bird and Iowa State University professor emeritus Jerry DeWitt are being honored as 2015 NCR-SARE Heroes. The honor is presented by North Central Regional Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCR-SARE) for those offering outstanding leadership, vision, contribution and impact in the field of sustainable agriculture in the north central region. The organization noted from 1991-1993, Bird served as national director of the SARE Program and for 19 years, he served on the board of directors of the Rodale Institute. He also co-edited the 2006 book, “Developing and Extending Sustainable Agriculture: A New Social Contract.” Most recently, Bird participated in the Central Asia Integrated Pest Management - Collaborative Research Support Program (IPM-CRS) and the Borlaug Fellowship Program.
