I am a master’s student in the Grieshop and Gut labs and I’m researching the winter morph of spotted wing drosophila (SWD). I am interested in studying their behavior and physiological state over various conditions. With knowledge on this invasive agricultural pest we can assist growers with better timed pesticide applications and improved monitoring tools for SWD. Additionally, I will be studying the overwintering habits of winter morph SWD, with a better understanding of their population dynamics we could provide growers with management practices that target the pest at its lowest population level.
