Ben Luukkonen
Research Specialist, Michigan DNR
Ben earned an MS in Wildlife Ecology from Iowa State University and a BS and PhD in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University. His graduate research projects focused on waterfowl movement and population ecology. Previously he worked as a Waterfowl Biologist for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of Idaho. Ben is currently the Avian and Wetland Ecology Research Specialist for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division. His responsibilities include conducting applied research to inform management and policy for avian taxa and wetland habitats. His research interests include population dynamics, harvest management, movement ecology, and human-wildlife conflict.
