Background:

I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife and the Environmental Science and Policy Program. I grew up in Germany where I earned my B.Sc. in Environmental and Resource Management. I also hold an Erasmus Mundus M.Sc. in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management. Before beginning my PhD, I worked in international development cooperation for climate change adaptation policy. This experience deepened my interest in ultimately working at the interface of science and policy. Accordingly, my dissertation research analyses social-ecological resilience in both academia and the practitioner world. I test and compare “objective” and perception-based assessments of resilience for rural communities in Cambodia. And I am analysing US cities’ planning with regards to climate change adaptation and resilience. In my free time, I enjoy being active in nature, baking, and taking care of my plants.
