Summary

I am interested in the effect of outside sources of organic matter on headwater stream communities of macroinvertebrates and microbes. These sources come in diverse forms, from salmon carrion to leaf litter, and a change in the quantity and/or quality of these resources can have profound effects that cascade through watersheds. My research examines the functional impact a change in this organic matter has on coupled macroinvertebrate and microbial communities.
