Benedito Cunguara joined the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics, Food Security Group, in July 2011. Prior to joining MSU, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture as an agricultural policy analyst in the period 2003-2005. He also worked as a research fellow for the Center for Development Research (based in Vienna, Austria) and for the International Center for Tropical Agriculture, CIAT (based in Harare, Zimbabwe).

His recent research has covered impact assessment methods, censored regressions, and poverty reduction in Mozambique. Prior to the completion of his PhD, he also worked as an independent consultant and received an internship with the University of Copenhagen assisting the Policy Analysis Unit of the Ministry of Planning and Development in Mozambique.
