Michael Hall is a Ph.D. student from Savannah, Georgia. He is interested in household economics and gender dynamics, food production and availability, and the consumer food environment. The son of a baker and middle of five children, Michael’s mother taught him early on the importance of food to feed the body and nourish the soul. Prior to MSU, Michael worked as a research assistant throughout his higher-education tenure, reading and writing on subjects including land grabbing, U.S. involvement in Latin American politics, and poverty cycles. In 2021, Michael worked as a Research Consultant for The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) where he investigated skills-related policies and micro, small, and medium enterprises development in Mexico along gender lines. Currently, Michael volunteers at the Greater Lansing Food Bank and works at the Michigan State University Writing Center. In his spare time, Michael likes to bake bread, ride his bicycle, listen to music, and be outside.
