Research:
I am currently focused on the genetic identification of aquatic plants in the aquarium trade. The presence of cultivated varietals and a history of mislabeling mean little is currently known about the kinds of plants being sold. Additionally, I perform DNA extractions and library preparations for a wide variety of graduate student and fee-for-service projects. Most of this work is centered on native fisheries conservation. I also help maintain the lab's genetic sample archive.
