Classify Plants Based on Leaf and Structures

Segment: 6. Plant & Animal Physiology, Standard: Classify plants based on physiology for taxonomic or other classifications. (Pathway II.B.2)

Description

Compare similarities and differences of plants by individual characteristics. Incorporate the structure of a dichotomous key, explain how binomial nomenclature was developed, show basic plant anatomical differences by species (including but not limited to roots, stems, leaves, seeds or fruit structures). 

Resources

  • Use lecture/discussion and brainstorming to show differences between plant structures.
  • Local greenhouse resource personnel in to speak.
  • YouTube or create your own video about plant classification.
