Job Description
IPF Landscape Services invites applicants for the position of Arborist/ Nursery Student intern. This position will assist the arborist and nursery crews in the areas of tree preservation, plant propagation, and routine tree and nursery maintenance. Landscape Services is responsible for providing protection for trees within construction sites and maintaining the health and vitality of the campus arboretum.

Basic Function and Responsibility
Assist the arborist and nursery crew with a wide variety of tasks. Duties would include assisting with installing and removing tree protection fencing; root trenching and other tree protection methods during construction; assist with maintaining inventory and other records at Beaumont Nursery; assist with routine maintenance at Beaumont nursery such as mowing, watering, and loading or unloading plant material; Assist with maintaining MSU's plant maintenance database using ArcGis Field Maps Application; Assist in identifying and treating plant and tree disease, insect, and other related problems; basic pruning of campus trees; will need to operate a university vehicle to transport supplies, materials, tools, and equipment to work sites.

Be enrolled as an MSU student, able to pass driver background check, willing to work in variable weather conditions; available early morning hours; wear appropriate safety footwear such as a work boot; Have a smart phone to enter hours worked for payroll; Be a team player with a positive attitude.

Desired: Working knowledge of tools, methods, materials, and equipment used in grounds maintenance.

Work Hours & Days
Work Week: Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm
Employment Type: Student, Summer - 40 hours/week. School year – 12-29 hours/week, flexible on days of week and hours per day during academic school year
