Working/Functional Title

Radiology Healing Gardens Manager

Position Summary

MSU Radiology has an opening for a year-round Botanical Technologist II to manage the Radiology Healing Gardens, a calming environment for employees, students, and visitors, as well as the building interiorscape.    This individual oversees the maintenance and management of the Radiology Healing Gardens and associated spaces, including the Radiology building interiorscape, the Healing Gardens ponds and waterfalls, infrastructure and plant materials in the Radiology Healing Gardens, as well as the greenhouse and shed; and administrative duties that includes managing student and temporary/on-call employees, collaboration on fundraising efforts, scheduling and working with service contractors, and training and management of volunteers.  

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Botany, Landscape Design or Horticulture; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in landscape design and maintenance, plant propagation, plant material identification; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and requires Ornamental Pesticide Applicators Certificate.

Desired Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of perennials, annuals, trees, shrubs, bulbs, aquatic plans, freshwater fish, indoor plants, turf grass, and specialty containers; proficiency with operation of landscaping tools and machinery; experience with pond maintenance/care, preparing garden plans, small engine repair and pump maintenance.
