    Interlochen Center for the Arts is looking to hire a Garden Activities Manager for the upcoming season of Interlochen Arts Camp. The Garden Activities Manager will be directly teaching students, creating curriculum for outdoor education, giving tours to classes and visitors, and hosting evening events for summer campers.  Housing and all meals are included with this position.  The dates of employment are 6/5/25-8/25/23.  Start date and end date can be flexible as needed.  This is an hourly position.  

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for overseeing the development of the sustainability related summer curriculum for students of a variety of ages and grades
    • Maintains both consumable evening recreation supplies (food, crafts, etc) and maintains the inventory of hard-goods (pots, pans, grills, etc) provided by the Sustainability Department
    • Ensures the care and return of equipment and recognizes when replacements are needed
    • Assists with placing all purchase orders and shopping for evening recreational activities and events
    • Supports other department staff on site-related gardening and projects, as needed
    • Contributes to all aspects of the Sustainability Department programs (including the evening events, public tours, and projects within the department)
    • Oversees and maintains the pavilion and outdoor kitchen space during the summer months/camp season

    Experience and Skills

     
    • Education in fields that are related to education, environmental science, biology, agriculture, or similar is preferred
    • Experience working with children, grades 2-12, and adults
    • Experience in education, curriculum design, effective classroom management, and creative hands-on instructional techniques 
    • Basic essential computer/technology skills are required
    • Experience working with with gardens
    • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities to work with others both on a team and independently
    • Highly self-motivated and self-directed and feel comfortable working with minimal supervision
    • Enjoy the outdoors, science, nature, and agriculture
