Runkle and Poel win Best Publication Award

Erik Runkle and Brian Poel received the 2018 Kenneth Post Award for Graduate Research in Floriculture

Brian Poel and Erik Runkle received the 2018 Kenneth Post Award for Graduate Research in Floriculture during the annual conference of the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) in Washington, D.C.  Erik is a professor in the Department of Horticulture and Brian received his M.S. degree under his supervision in 2016.  The award is given each year to authors of the best graduate research paper published in one of the three ASHS journals, and is selected by peers of the Floriculture Professional Interest Group of ASHS.  Their paper is entitled “Seedling growth is similar under supplemental greenhouse lighting from high-pressure sodium lamps or light-emitting diodes” and was published in HortScience in 2017.  Brian is currently Horticulture Lighting Specialist at LumiGrow.
