This resource explores the key roles that food hubs can play in the development, support, and maintenance of successful farm to school programs. Funded by a 2012 USDA Farm to School grant and created by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, the guide illustrates how working with food hubs can increase school accessibility to local foods and boost farm to school programs. During the grant’s year of pilot projects building relationships between farm to school programs and food hubs, local food purchases increased 58% among schools engaged with their regional food hub.

The guide was designed as a resource for schools and food hubs across the nation, revealing the many successes of food hub and school partnerships and roles food hubs can play in farm to school programs.
