    • Team: 2nd in Guernseys and 10th Overall.
    • Individuals: John Huisjen placed 2nd in Guernseys and 4th in Brown Swiss.

  • International Dairy Show in Chicago, Illinois 
    • Team: 7th Overall, 7th in Ayrshires, 7th in Brown Swiss, 7th in Jerseys, 9th in Guernseys, and 9th in Reasons. 
    • Individuals: James Becker places 2nd in Jerseys. Duane Heisler placed 2nd in Ayrshires, 6th in Brown Swiss, and 8th Overall. 

  • Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansas 
    • Team: 1st Overall, 1st in Ayrshires, 1st in Brown Swiss, 1st in Milking Shorthorns, 2nd in Guernseys, and 2nd in Jerseys.
    • Individuals: Lloyd Grau placed 3rd in Milking Shorthorns and 4th Overall. Milton TerVree placed 1st Overall, 3rd in Brown Swiss, and 3rd in Holsteins.

 

1961

The 1961 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included: Jim Becker, of St. Johns; Jim Cramer, of East Lansing; Larry Hammons, of Ottawa Lake; Duane Heisler, of Springport; Dale Sheltrown, of Gladwin; and Peter Spike, of Manchester.

  • National Dairy Cattle Contest in Waterloo, Iowa 
    • Team: 4th in Reasons, 4th in Guernseys, 6th in Ayrshires, 7th Overall, and 10th in Brown Swiss. 
    • Individuals: Jim Becker placed 4th in Brown Swiss. Duane Heisler placed 2nd Reasons, 2nd in Ayrshires, and 3rd Overall, and 4th Guernseys. 

  • International Dairy Show in Chicago, Illinois
    • Team: 3rd in Milking Shorthorns, 4th Overall, 5th in Reasons, 5th in Guernseys, 8th in Jerseys, 9th in Rankings, and 10th in Brown Swiss. 
    • Individuals: Larry Hammons placed 8th in Holsteins. Dale Sheltrown placed 1st in Milking Shorthorns, and 10th in Reasons. Peter Spike placed 2nd in Milking Shorthorns.

The 1962 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included: Harlow Bailey, of Schoolcraft; Dale Bauman, of Brown City; Larry Hammons, of Ottawa Lake; Thomas Spike, of Manchester; Peter Spike, of Manchester; Jim Wissman, of Marine City. 

Results 

  • National Dairy Cattle Contest in Waterloo, Iowa 
    • Team: 9th in Ayrshires and 10th in Brown Swiss.
    • Individuals: Larry Hammons placed 1st Overall, 2nd in Holsteins, and 5th in Reasons.

  • International Dairy Show in Chicago, Illinois 
    •  Team: 4th place in Guernseys, 5th place in Ayrshires, 5th place in Holsteins, 7th place in Rankings, and 10th in Milking Shorthorns.
    • Individuals: Dale Bauman placed 6th in Ayrshires while Larry Hammons placed 10th in Guernseys.

    • Individuals: Harlow Bailey placed 5th in Reasons and 8th Overall.

    • Team: 5th in Holsteins, 6th in Brown Swiss, and 7th in Milking Shorthorns.
    • Individuals: Jerry Good placed 7th in Milking Shorthorns while Rex Powell placed 3rd in Brown Swiss. Bill Spike placed 3rd in Holsteins and 7th in Brown Swiss.

    • Team: 6th in Holsteins, 8th in Reasons, 9th in Brown Swiss, and 10th Overall. 
    • Individuals: Wayne Casler placed 4th in Holsteins.

    • Team: 5th in Ayrshires, 7th in Reasons, 8th in Brown Swiss, 9th in Holsteins, and 9th Overall.

The 1965 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included: Maurice Bennink, of Coopersville; Doug Bodenbender, of Bryon; Mike Bystry, of Bronson; Carl Kaechele, of Caledonia; and Chris Miller, of Flint.

  • National Dairy Cattle Congress in Waterloo, Iowa
    • Team: 1st in Guernseys, 2nd Overall, 2nd in Reasons, 4th in Ayrshires, 5th in Holsteins, 9th in Jerseys, and 10th in Brown Swiss. 
    • Individuals: Maurice Bennink placed first in Guernseys. Mike Bystry placed 1st in Reasons, 5th Overall, 6th in Aryshires, and 7th in Guernseys.

    • Individuals: Maurice Bennink placed 9th in Jerseys while Mike Bystry placed 10th Overall. Carl Kaechele placed 3rd in Jerseys and 5th in Brown Swiss. 

  • Mid-West Judging Contest at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansas 
    • Team: 1st in Jerseys, 2nd in Ayrshires, 2nd in Holsteins, 2nd Overall, 3rd in Guernseys, and 3rd in Reasons. 
    • Individuals: Maurice Bennink placed 10th Overall and 10th in Reasons. Mike Bystry placed 2nd in Reasons, 2nd in Holsteins, 3rd in Ayrshires, 5th in Guernseys, and 7th Overall. Chris Miller placed 1st in Jerseys, 2nd in Brown Swiss, and 2nd Overall.

 

1966

The 1966 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included: Carl Kaechele, of Caledonia; Karen Ley, of Concord; Judy Linebaugh, of Lyons; and Tom Spike, of Owosso.

Results 

  • National Dairy Cattle Congress in Waterloo, Iowa 
    • Team: 3rd Overall, 3rd in Ayrshires, 4th in Reasons, 6th in Guernseys, 8th in Brown Swiss, and 10th in Holsteins.
    • Individuals: Carl Kaechele placed 3rd Overall and 3rd in Aryshires. Karen Ley placed 3rd in Guernseys. Judy Linebaugh placed 2nd in Jerseys and 9th in Brown Swiss. 

  • Hawkeye Intercollegiate Contest at the Iowa State Fair in De Moines, Iowa 
    • Team: 2nd in Jerseys, 3rd in Holsteins, and 4th Overall. 
    • Individuals: Carl Kaechele placed 1st in Ayrshires, 6th in Reasons, and 7th Overall. Judy Linebaugh placed 3rd in Milking Shorthorns, 4th in Holsteins, 5th in Jerseys, and 19th Overall.

 

1967

The 1967 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included: Clifford Allen, of Byron Center; Tom Atherton, of Gaines; Scott Cristman, of Ilion, NY; Bill Francisco, of Andover, NJ; Robert Krause, of Scottville; Mike McGillard, of Okemos; Jim Rivest, of Elsie; and Tom Spike, of Owosso. 

Results 

  • North American Dairy Show in Columbus, Ohio 
    • Team: 2nd Overall, 2nd in Jerseys, 4th in Holsteins, 8th in Brown Swiss, and 10th in Guernseys.
    • Individuals: Clifford Allen placed 8th in Holsteins. Tom Spike placed 1st in Jerseys and 10th Overall. 

  • International Dairy Show in Chicago, Illinois 
    • Team: 1st in Guernseys, 5th Overall, 5th in Jerseys, 6th in Reasons, 6th in Brown Swiss, and 10th in Ayrshires.
    • Individuals: Scott Cristman placed 1st Overall, 1st in Reasons, 1st in Guernseys, 3rd in Reasons, and 3rd in Ayrshires.

  • National Dairy Cattle Congress in Waterloo, Iowa
    • Team: 4th in Placings, 4th in Brown Swiss, 4th in Milking Shorthorns, 7th Overall, and 8th in Reasons. 
    • Individuals: Bill Francisco placed 1st in Jerseys, 3rd in Guernseys, and 9th Overall. Tom Spike placed 1st in Milking Shorthorns and 4th in Guernseys.

    • Team: 1st Overall, 1st in Holsteins, 3rd in Brown Swiss, 3rd in Guernseys, 4th in Ayrshires, 4th in Milking Shorthorns, and 5th in Jerseys.
