Earth Explorers Camp: Day 5
Animal Chores
As every day we do, there is always a part of our campers' day to help out with taking care of the animals on our farm. One of our groups visited the chickens this morning, and we found out they had run our of water! We quickly filled up their water tank. If we need to stay hydrated, so do our chickens! Not having water is pretty b-a-a-a-ad! Speaking of Ba-a-ing, the campers did milk our goats again today, with great success!
Nature Stamps/Signatures
Since it's Friday we always have some crazy fun activities that happen at MSU Tollgate Farms, and today we stamped flowers into t-shirts! Campers went all around the farm, finding flowers, leaves, and other plants to put inside the shirt, and then take a rubber hammer and smash the colors in!
DIY Tote Bag
After stamping the flowers into the t-shirt and drawing with markers, another activity that the campers did today was to make a tote bag out of a t-shirt. Campers cut the bottom hem into thin strips and tied the ends together. The Educational leader came around to cut the sleeves and the neckline off, to make the bag, which all the campers will be able to take theirs home to reuse, and maybe make more out of other old t-shirts!
Quinoa & Chocolate Mousse!
Bananas and Quinoa? You might not think those two things would go together, but they really do! This morning we had a Breakfast Quinoa, where the bananas made the quinoa extra sweet. Speaking of sweets, this afternoon there was no garden kitchen, because the campers were working so hard on their games, we brought the Silken Tofu Chocolate Mousse to them! It's vegan, and gluten free, a perfect dessert!
CARNIVAL!
Remember how in the last couple posts we talked about making games? Well, today's the day! Time to present the carnival games! Each camper or group of campers, gets to present their game that they designed and created, and then everybody gets a chance to play! From puppet shows, to put-put golf, and from balance games to games of chance, these campers did extremely well! We are all so proud of their accomplishments!
