  • Site characteristics: Full sun; best in moist, well-drained soils; tolerates partial shade
  • Zone: 4 - 6
  • Wet/dry: Tolerates some dryness
  • Native range: Japan
  • pH: ≤ 8.2
  • Shape: Oval to rounded habit
  • Foliage: Crisp, dark green summer foliage; pale yellow fall color
  • Other: Thick foliage makes it a good shade tree
  • Additional: Cultivar ‘State Street’ has good heat tolerance and tolerates urban settings
  • Pests: No serious disease or pest problems
