Volunteer and Club Resources
Starting a New 4-H Club
If you are interested in starting a new 4-H club please contact your local 4-H program Coordinator to get started (Ashleigh Klein and LaToya Jones). All 4-H entities (including clubs, councils, boards, and committees) must go through an authorization process in order to use the 4-H name and emblem and be recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt.
Annual 4-H Club Re-Enrollment Paperwork
Each 4-H club must turn in the following forms each fall in order to maintain their status. Please watch for communication from the 4-H program coordinator regarding the county deadline.
Annual Club Re-enrollment Checklist
Club Registration & Civil Rights Compliance
Annual Financial Summary Report
Debit Card Agreement-For Clubs with Bank Accounts Only
Fundraising Forms
4-H clubs must request permission from the 4-H program coordinator if they wish to hold a fundraiser. Please submit the following forms at least 10 days in advance of your proposed event. In the case of fundraisers, a report form is also due no later than 10 days after the completion of the fundraiser. Fundraisers that are not approved are not permitted to operate under the 4-H name and emblem and are not covered under MSU's indemnification policy.

4-H Club Treasury & Bank Account Policy
All 4-H clubs that manage a treasury of $100 or more for 30 days or longer, solicit donations, or collect club dues are required to have an official club bank account.
To open a bank account, clubs must first contact their local 4-H Program Coordinator for approval. Each account must have two Gold-Level 4-H Volunteers as authorized signatories. These volunteers must have successfully completed the three 4-H Financial Management Training modules.
Clubs that operate with less than $100 during any 30-day period may maintain a cash-only treasury, but are still required to submit a treasurer’s report and Annual Financial Summary Report Form during the end-of-year reporting period.
For treasurer report templates and further guidance on managing your club’s finances, please refer to the 4-H Financial Manual. This manual provides step-by-step instructions, examples, and tools to help your club remain in good financial standing.
If you need assistance accessing the manual or completing the required reports, please contact your local 4-H Program Coordinator.

All Clubs with Bank Accounts must submit monthly bank statements to the Wayne County MSU Extension Office (33030 Van Born Rd, Wayne, MI, 48184). Ideally, banks will mail statements directly to this office, however, we understand some banks charge a fee for this, therefore it is acceptable to submit electronic statements to your 4-H Program Coordinator.
