Cleaning your pruning shears is a taks that should be completed on a rgular basis if you want to ensure these essential tools stay sharp and in good working order.  By maintaining your tools properly they should last you a good number of years,  but let them go rusty and gather dirt and you risk having to replace them on a more frequent basis.

Pruning

Come join our Arboretum Manager, Brian Gayheart, to gain hands-on experience with pruning Michigan hardy shrubs.  Practice dormant pruning on mature shrubs right here in the C. E. Lewis Landscaep Arboretum/  Learn useful techniques form our expert pruner and explore the reasons we prune and what we are trying to achieve.  Be prepared for fun outdoorse with appropriate cliothing and shoes.

Perennial Container Gardening

Get messy and creative with Perennial Garden Manager, Bethany Troy, in this workshop where we will focus on making beautiful mixed containers with perennials.  Learn about styles, plant selections, successes, and failures in our experimentation with combinations over the years. Attendees will put together their own mixed container to take home.
