Assistant Professor, Horticulture

The Department of Agricultural Sciences at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track position as Assistant Professor, Horticulture. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2022.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibility for the Assistant Professor, Horticulture is instruction in the assigned discipline or related field. Classes are taught in a typical classroom, laboratory, the University Farm (Derrickson Agricultural Center), or an internet-based environment. Teaching a course load of 12 hours per semester in undergraduate agriculture courses is expected and includes: Horticulture Science, Landscape Plants, Landscape Design, Greenhouse Operations, Plant Propagation, Fruit Production, Landscape Maintenance, Herbs, Principles of Vegetable Production, Greenhouse Structures and other classes based upon need.  The Assistant Professor of Horticulture is also responsible for developing new classes for the Department of Agricultural Sciences so the department will stay current as changes in agriculture occur.

REQUIREMENTS: Terminal degree in the individual’s discipline, and if the rank is granted upon appointment, there must be evidence of scholarly, artistic, or professional achievements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Significant teaching experience in higher education and evidence of scholarly, artistic, or professional achievements beyond the minimum qualifications for this rank.
