Greenhouse Grower/Plant Enthusiast Overview

Heidi Heath Farms is looking for a working manager position who works with the growing, care and maintenance of greenhouse plants produced for wholesale sales. We are a growing, family owned/operated farm with diverse operations consisting of over 300 acres of vegetables, 150 acres sod and 5 acres of greenhouse.

Job Responsibilities Growing

• Active in research of new product/plant material
• Monitors growing conditions, plant health and growth stage
• Assist in training new employees in growing techniques and activities
• Maintains a current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies Purchasing
• Soil
• Greenhouse supplies
• Unrooted and Rooted Perennials, Annuals and Fall Mums
• Seeds Design
• Creating recipes for basket and container designs for spring and fall product line
• Determining Initial plant material
• Ordering plant material
• Scheduling what weeks to pot and crop spread
• Landscape design and development

 

Inventory

• Oversee recordkeeping to insure there is enough product/plant material for sales
• Reacting to overages/shortages of product/plant material Core Competencies
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members and customers
• Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Have the knowledge and ability to identify major plant groups and be aware of their culture and growth traits
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Planning, organizing and attention to detail
• Adaptability and multi-tasking; experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Encourages positive working environment Experience
• 2–4-year degree in Horticulture or related field or 2 years related work experience desired but will train the right person

Required Work Schedule

Full-time, year-round position with flexibility Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits:
