JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop your horticultural expertise and adopt dozens of unique, private gardens as your own. Atzinger Gardens offers detail-oriented, horticulturist gardening in and around the Ann Arbor and metro Detroit area. We specialize in perennial garden design and care.

Use your love and knowledge of plants and ornamental gardening. Devote yourself to your client’s enjoyment of their gardens through leading and working alongside a small, dedicated crew of gardeners. Direct your crew in weeding, proper trimming, fertilizing, mulching, planting/transplanting, diagnosing pests, and general garden care. Find interest and accomplishment in completing these tasks every day. Education and experience in ornamental gardening and/or horticulture (identification, planting, soil health, disease and pest treatment, etc.) required. Alacrity, leadership, honesty, communication, organization must be shown. Innovation, the desire to take personal ownership of our brand, and the ability to proactively create solutions are key.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients of assigned gardening accounts, conduct regular client meetings, anticipate needs, communicate recommendations, ensure requests are met and problems are solved
  • Guide and work alongside a crew in effectively and efficiently maintaining gardens to an exceptional standard guided by proper horticultural practices
  • Collaborate with clients to adapt and augment gardens as they grow, fulfilling design intentions; create work proposals to this effect
  • Identify plants, soil types, weeds, and pests and match to maintenance requirements
  • Anticipate logistics of jobs such as material deliveries, pulling permits, marking utilities, setting up equipment
  • Apply or oversee the application of pesticides using integrated pest management techniques
  • Contribute to your crew’s hiring process, make performance assessments, liaise with Owner regarding personnel actions
  • Set visit schedules for assigned accounts on a weekly basis and notify clients of upcoming visits
  • Set crew schedules on a weekly basis and coordinate with job needs
  • Keep and organize job notes, expenses, and invoicing information
  • Develop and recommend innovations to gardening crew operating procedures.
  • Winter planning and setup for following season
  • Partners with Owner on multiple facets of business operation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or experience in ornamental gardening and horticulture required.
  • Computer skills encompassing the use of customer management software via smart phone app.

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION: Superior Township, MI (near Ann Arbor) and surrounding areas

Full-time with flexible winter hours.

SALARY: $36,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
