Wenke Greenhouses is a large, family owned, vertically integrated production greenhouse established over 70 years ago. We have four locations Kalamazoo, MI and a sister company in Douglas, GA. We grow and sell flowers year round. Our main crops are annual bedding plants, home-use vegetables, perennials, poinsettias and indoor plants. These crops are sold to garden centers, hardware stores and landscapers throughout the Midwest; the Kalamazoo Flower Group (broker), as well as starter plants to other growers. We also have a successful retail store servicing Kalamazoo.

Job Summary:
Grower Support personnel have the responsibility to assist the growers by gathering information about the crop, soil, and pests that is important for the growers to be aware of and communicating this information to them accurately.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Examining yellow sticky cards to count each type of bug
- Checking crops for pests that may not be captured on the cards
- Testing the soil and water to determine the EC and pH
- Inputting the scouting and testing data into the computer app
Schedule / work hours:
- Minimum of 24 hours per week.
- Opportunity for up to 60 hours per week during the busy season
- Year-round, Seasonal or Part-Time
- Option to set own schedule
Skills Needed:
- Capacity to work independently
- Proficiency with a computer / tablet
- Ability to follow through on directions given
- Willingness to ask questions
- Physical ability to be on your feet with frequent bending
- Ability to use a magnifying glass
- Knowledge of pests and disease and hosts helpful but training will be given
Compensation (Pay rate, benefits, PTO, phone, other):
- $18.50 per hour
- Health insurance partially paid by company (available for full time)
