Bees, fishing and more!

Welcome to day 3!

Fishing

Today our campers headed to the pond to fish! So many campers caught a ton of fish!! A few caught a bass as well. They got so excited when they caught a fish.

Bee Presentation

Our bee volunteer came today and taught us all about bees! They were even shown a huge hornet’s nest that he got from our farm. Did you know bees have been around for over 14 million years? Since the dinosaurs!

Animal Chores

Everyone loves to get to spend time with the animals every day! Campers went to go see the chickens and hold them too. Others went to milk the goats, and some went to clean the duck pen!

Egg Dissection

Yup, campers dissected an egg! They cracked an egg to observe the outer membrane of an egg then once it was cracked into the bowl, they observed the inner membrane and the yolk. Campers even weighed the eggs.

Children’s garden fun!

As a fun relaxing time, in between stations pepper groups played in the children’s garden for a bit and even practiced their skits! You will be able to watch the finalized skits on Friday!

STEAM: Hurricane houses

I love seeing the creativity of each hurricane house campers are making. Each duo is building a durable house to withstand the tests they’re going to do at the end of the week and see if it survives!

Garden Kitchen: Homemade Blueberry jam, oatcakes and fruit smoothie!

IMG_8006.jpg

In the morning, our Garden Kitchen Leader, Kali made some yummy homemade blueberry jam they’re using for the oat cakes in the afternoon. To hold them over, they made a yummy fruit smoothie. Everyone loved it and wanted more! On Friday, campers will get a recipe book of everything they’ve made in Garden Kitchen this week!!
