Time to care for our chickens today! Campers went over to the chicken coop to care for our chickens and see where they lay their eggs.

Game time!! Where’s my chicken is a super popular game amongst campers, whenever they have time it’s the one game they want to play! Duck duck goose is a classic fun game that you most likely remember playing as a kid.

Garden Time: Harvesting lettuce/plant seeds

Our amazing garden volunteers are the ones who keep the EDU Garden looking so nice! Our sprouts went to pick some fresh lettuce and plant some seeds. They learned how to be a gardener and care for our plants growing.

Goat milking

IMG_7889.jpg

Yup! Our sprouts campers got to milk our goats today! The 4-H club uses their milk to make soaps, bath bombs and more. Also, we use milk to feed our baby goats, so they get nice and strong.

Wagon Ride

IMG_7903.jpg

Campers took a fun wagon ride around the farm. It’s such a great way to see more of the farm that isn’t often explored and isn’t within walking distance for campers to visit during the day.

Pony grooming

IMG_7918.jpg

Just like our two horses Sedona and Grizz, our pony Sesame gets groomed too! To keep our horses healthy, we need to brush our horses’ hair and clean their hooves. Today we enlisted the campers to help with this process. Campers got to hang out with Sesame in the pasture, learned about the different brushes, and practiced some horse grooming methods of their own.

Sheep Wool Bracelet making

IMG_7920.jpg

As a keep sake campers got to make and take home Tollgate sheep wool bracelet. They learned the structure of wool and how we make it stronger by the process through felting. With the help from some water and dish soap, campers rubbed the felt together to create a bracelet. Then they dyed the bracelets with Kool Aid.

Sprouts Half Day Camp: Wednesday

Forest time!

IMG_7961.jpg

This morning campers took a wagon ride out to the forest and went to do some forest therapy. It gives people a chance to relax, close their eyes and listen to the forest around them. It’s very relaxing! After they explored the vernal pool in our forest.

Plant rubbings

Campers were given play dough to make a bouquet of leaves and at another station they rubbed leaves onto a paper using crayons! Their drawings turned out so cool.

Bunny time

Bunnies make everything better!! Both pepper groups were able to play with our two cute, adorable bunnies Stella and Bella! They learned the importance that you have to be gentle with them and use two fingers to pet them.
