The Department honored the retirement of Bob Hollingworth with a pizza luncheon on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, where faculty and staff shared memories and appreciative words about Hollingworth’s tenure with the Department. Along with serving as regional IR-4 director, Hollingworth oversaw the operations and upgrade of a modern IR-4 residue and analytical laboratory at MSU. John Wise is the new regional director and will in a dual role as coordinator of the MSU Trevor Nichols Research Center.

Hollingworth officially retired in 2007, but continued with leadership as an emeritus professor. His interests have included pesticide resistance and resistance management along with pesticide regulation and risk assessment. His most recent teaching and technical support was in the areas of the regulation and safety assessment for chemical contaminants in foods and for genetically modified crops, with a special focus on international agriculture through the WorldTAP program.
