Food Safety Services

The MSU Product Center offers the following services on a fee-for-service basis. If interested in these services, clients should click on the “Become a Client” button on the Product Center’s main page and complete the counseling request, pay the $100 application fee and complete a Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (CDA). Our food safety specialist will be able to provide a quote for services after these steps are completed.  

Fee-For-Service Options: Food Safety Services

  • Food safety and regulatory compliance assistance 
  • FDA (registration, food safety program development (e.g., FDA HACCP systems, preventive controls food safety plans, sanitary transport, etc.)) 
  • USDA (obtaining a grant of inspection, custom exempt, program development (e.g., HACCP systems -slaughter, raw non-intact, raw intact, fully cooked, heat treated not fully cooked, etc.)) 
  • State inspection compliance (e.g., MI variances, HACCP, SSOP’s, SOP’s, forms, etc.) 
  • Prerequisite Program Development (e.g., good manufacturing practices (GMPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), raw material control and traceability programs, drug residue, generic E.coli testing program, sanitary dress, specified risk material (SRM) control, rework control/reconditioning, allergen control program, supplier program, calibration procedures, recall program, food defense program, environmental monitoring program, customer complaint policy, employee training, etc.) 
  • Animal welfare program development, training, auditing and regulatory compliance (e.g., robust systematic approach animal welfare program and associated forms/SOP’s, corrective action plan, facility assessment, humane handling audit, humane handling truck audit, maintenance program, employee training programs, etc.) 
  • Regulatory action consulting (shut down, warning letter, NOIE, NR’s, general violations, etc.) 
  • Third party certification preparation and assistance (GFSI, Food Safety, GMP, etc.) 
  • Employee training (e.g., sanitation, livestock harvesting, food safety, GMP, general operations, etc.) 
  • Microbial/quality Investigations/Corrections 
  • Processing and Corrective Action Investigations 
  • Recall programs, drills and live event assistance
