View all Strength Training Basics VideosTo perform a standing dumbbell press, start with your feet shoulder width apart with one foot slightly out in front of you for stability. The dumbbells will start at shoulder level with your elbows underneath the weights. Take a nice deep breath and engage your core and press the weight straight over top of the head. The weights do not need to come in contact at the top. Slowly lower the weight back into the starting position, keeping your chest up and your core tight.
