The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is home to many Spartans who found — and are still finding — ways to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jade Mitchell, associate professor in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, is building on Joan Rose’s work as part of an Environmental Protection Agency project. Dr. Mitchell and her team are working to predict water quality impacts and human health risks, as well as informing policymakers of the risks associated with these plumbing systems.

Laura Bix, professor in the School of Packaging, is a part of a collaborative, cross-university team that came up with the Spartan Spit Kit, an early detection kit for COVID-19. The kit is in use on campus by those students living on campus, athletic teams, faculty and staff who are regularly on campus and members of the surrounding community.

In this video Drs. Mitchell and Bix share some of their experiences.
