Job Title: Gardener/Maintenance Assistant – Private Estate (Full-Time)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (very limited weekend work as needed) Typical warm season hours are 7am-4:30pm.
Position Summary:
A private estate is seeking a skilled and dedicated Gardener/Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time position with an emphasis on vegetable gardening and landscape care (approximately 75% of responsibilities), with the remainder focused on general property maintenance and support (approximately 25%). The ideal candidate is hardworking, flexible, and has experience working in high-end residential or estate environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Gardening & Landscape Duties (75%)
· Care for and maintain extensive vegetable gardens with a focus on productivity and sustainability.
· Tend to flower beds, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plantings.
· Seasonal planting, mulching, weeding, pruning, and fertilizing.
· Operate garden machinery, including zero-turn mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools.
· Monitor plant health and treat issues related to pests, disease, and irrigation.
· Responsible for arranging flowers for household use (floral arranging experience a plus).
Maintenance & Support Duties (25%)
· Perform basic routine maintenance tasks across the estate, including:
· Pool cleaning and upkeep
· Cleaning and maintaining gardening tools and equipment
· Assisting the property manager with general tasks and special projects
· Monitor and report any repair needs around the property.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience with vegetable gardening; estate gardening experience preferred.
· Floral arranging or flower harvesting experience is a plus.
· Familiarity with operating and maintaining garden equipment, especially zero-turn mowers.
· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Basic knowledge of property maintenance and willingness to learn new tasks.
· Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
· Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Discretion is required. Candidates will be required to sign NDA.
Work Environment:
This role is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting, bending, and extended periods of outdoor work in various weather conditions.
