SUPERIOR GROUNDS & GARDENS, located in Hazel Park, Michigan is a rapidly growing boutique landscape design, installation, and maintenance company with a reputation for delivering innovative design, superior quality, and horticulture centric residential and commercial landscaping services. We are looking for an experienced Horticulture Landscape Foreman to join our growing team to be a key collaborator in taking our organization to the next level. This is a newly added position in our organization, we are looking for a candidate who will develop and establish standard protocols, efficient operations, and long-term sustainability.

Please note, we are a horticulture centric company, we offer lawn mowing services on a very limited basis.

The Horticulture Landscape Foreman is a management position that plays a critical role in driving and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity in daily field operations and is expected to carry out the company’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop crew capacity through training, instruction, education, and corrective action
  • Create weekly jobs schedule and assign daily work plans
  • Materials and supplies procurement
  • Train and strictly enforce all safety procedures and policies
  • Consistently meet and exceed the highest quality standards
  • Challenge established job plans driving continuous improvement
  • Identify new projects and revenue enhancement opportunities within existing client base
  • Serve as liaison between field operations, sales, design, and management
  • Establish workforce training and certification programs
  • Participate in workforce recruitment and retention programs
  • Inspect and maintain equipment in good repair
  • Demonstrate company policies and procedures
  • Interpret landscape design plans
  • Exceptional time management skills

  • Industry specific knowledge of materials and methods

Experience

  • 10 years landscape installation and maintenance experience
  • 5 years management/leadership experience
  • Extensive knowledge of local turf types, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and ground-cover including growth characteristics, appropriate maintenance techniques, and common issues.

Education

Associates/Bachelors degree in Horticultural Sciences, preferred

Work Conditions

  • Employees performing this job are able and willing to drive or travel locally. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate with snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold or heat.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
