Job purpose

Full-Time position. Part-Time considered for a qualified candidate. Duties and responsibilities may expand as the business grows and with candidate skill set. Must possess a positive attitude and be open to taking on new responsibilities as necessary for a growing business.

Duties and responsibilities

Primary job duties and responsibilities

Prepare plant media solutions and stocks according to recipes.
Distribute media into vessels and sterilize for use.
Maintain chemical inventory and SDS’s.
Run and analyze samples using Flow Cytometry.
Process plant material using sterile technique.
Maintain inventory of plants as they are processed. Accurate record keeping is a must.
And other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

Follow instructions on personal protection equipment in order to maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Need to be a very conscientious and detail-oriented person.
Working under a laminar flow hood – sitting for long periods of time and working with fine instruments.
Ability to work with multiple plant varieties and maintain their separation.
Ability to work independently.
Not necessary, but some interest or experience in plant propagation a plus.

Working conditions

The job is being performed in a clean work environment in a secure building. Open to a flexible schedule for the right person.

Physical requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Ability to use fine instruments with repetition for extended periods of time.

Ability to load and unload autoclave. Some personal twisting while lifting is required.
