Oran B. Hesterman, Ph.D, will provide the closing keynote address for the third Michigan Good Food Summit on October 28, 2014 at the Lansing Center.

With more than 35 years of experience as a scientist, farmer, philanthropist, businessman, educator, and passionate advocate, Dr. Hesterman is a national leader in sustainable agriculture and food systems and is a respected partner for policymakers, philanthropic leaders, and advocates nationwide. Today, Dr. Hesterman is the President and CEO of Fair Food Network, a national nonprofit that works toward solutions that support farmers, strengthen local economies, and increase access to healthy food, especially in underserved communities. In just five years, Fair Food Network’s signature program, Double Up Food Bucks, has become a national model for healthy food incentives.

Dr. Hesterman’s keynote, “Where Do We Go from Here? Connecting the Dots and Advancing the Movement,” will outline the current state of the good food movement in Michigan and highlight how the many efforts in Michigan intersect as well as look at how our work connects with national efforts and how we can work together to continue to make real, sustainable change in Michigan’s food system moving forward.
