Live Webinar - Online via Zoom

As summer comes to an end, a new type of busyness greets us. September signals the start of back-to-school, extracurricular activities, and the upcoming holiday seasons. With too much to do and not enough time in the day to do it, many of us find it difficult to set aside time to refresh and recharge. September is a great month to start practicing regular self-care to help us navigate the busy end-of-year activities, so join us for the evening September self-care series. We will cover topics such as mindfulness, stress reduction, and self-compassion. These evening sessions are open to anyone who wants to take time out of their day to do something nice for themselves. A different topic will be covered during each virtual evening session. You only have to register once, and you choose which sessions you want to attend.

Calming Down and De-Stressing
September 3, 2024
Anger is a human emotion that we all feel at one time or another because…we are human! Anger is neither good nor bad, it just is. During this workshop participants will be introduced to the effects of stress and anger on the brain and body. Participants will also practice ways to calm down and de-stress when angry.

Mindful Self-Compassion
September 10, 2024
When we lack self-compassion, we may find it difficult to be compassionate toward others. However, self-compassion is often viewed as being self-indulgent or selfish. During this session, we will talk about the components and benefits of self-compassion and practice an activity to help you experience what self-compassion feels like.

Changing Negative Self-Talk
September 17, 2024
Do you ever feel like your thoughts are spiraling in a negative direction? What if we talked to ourselves like we did with a good friend? You can! During this session, participants will learn about the brain’s negativity bias and how it affects our response to stress. In addition, we will talk about the benefits of positive self-talk and explore other tools for dealing with negative self-talk.

Forgiving and Letting Go
September 24, 2024
How individuals handle their anger and stress affects the people around them. This workshop helps to increase knowledge about anger issues and put healthy relationship skills into practice. This lesson includes ways to begin to explore forgiveness and letting go of past hurts that might be weighing heavy on your heart.

This series will be presented over Zoom. Instructions on Zoom software and setup will be sent in the reminder email prior to the session.
