Katherine Jamieson, M.Ed.
Kathy Jamieson is an Extension Educator at Michigan State University Extension. She has worked in this capacity since May of 2004. Kathy's primary office location is in Macomb County.
As an Extension Educator, Kathy focuses on working with youth in foster care statewide. In this role, Kathy coordinates virtual education programs with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services- Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative (MYOI) for youth transitioning out of foster care.
Kathy also specializes in working with youth and young adults around the areas of career exploration, workforce preparation, money management, and entrepreneurship in her role with the Career Exploration Workforce Preparation (CEWP) team. She provides leadership to MSU Extension's 4-H Adulting 101 program, where free virtual sessions are offered monthly focusing on employment, housing, post-secondary education, communication, personal finance, leadership, civic engagement, independent living and health.
In addition, Kathy oversees the Apple Community Education Initiative (CEI), providing opportunities for youth to explore coding, creativity and STEAM focused projects using state-of-the-art equipment through camps, clubs, community, and school partnerships. This project, also known as "4-H Clovers Code" is currently available in 12 Michigan counties: Chippewa, Delta, Gogebic, Lake, Luce, Leelanau, Macomb, Mason, Menominee, Oakland, Schoolcraft, and Wayne.
Kathy is also a member of the Community, Food, and Environment Institute where she serves on the Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities team
Prior to joining MSU Extension, Kathy served as After-School Program Director in Warren, Employment Service Director for Macomb Community College, and Casemanager for Michigan Works.
