Pow Wows are the Native American people’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, and making new ones. This is a time method to renew Native American culture and preserve the rich heritage of American Indians.

Run for the Hills! 1 Mile and 5K Run/Walk

September 23, 2017 9 a.m. at the Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

Oh These Irish Hills! will conduct its annual "RUN FOR THE HILLS!" 1 mile and 5K Run/Walk at Hidden Lake Gardens. Take on the "Hilliest Course in S.E. Michigan" with your choice of 1 mile or 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) distance. Awards to individuals in various age categories, plus the Team Challenge award for racers in groups of 3 or more. Creatures of the Night Hike

Explore Hidden Lake Gardens after hours. Experience the sights and sounds of nocturnal creatures that come to life at night. Join Jon Genereaux, HLG Plant Propagator, as he takes you for a two hour hike through the woods to experience nature's night life. Hiking shoes/boots are a must, and bring a headlamp or flashlight and your best coyote calling voice! $10 per person / $8 Friends of HLG. Pre-registration is required, call 517-431-2060 to register.

Adopt-A-Highway

September 30, 2017 9:30 a.m. at the Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

Help the Friends of Hidden Lake Gardens keep our entryway clean of trash and debris. Michigan Department of Transportation Adopt-A-Highway program provides volunteer care for 6,400 miles of roadways, and has collected over one million bags of trash. Participants must be age 12 or older. Meet in the Visitors Center. 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Lenawee Byways Art Tour

October 7, 2017 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

Hidden Lake Gardens is one of 18 locations for the Lenawee County-wide Art Tour. Area studio artists, galleries, murals, and sculpture parks will be featured in Adrian, Blissfield, Clinton, and Tecumseh, as well as HLG.

Fall-ing in Love with Trees

Join horticulturist and naturalist educator, Ellyn Meyers, for a walk to learn about some of the trees at Hidden Lake Gardens. These native and exotic species provide us with food, lumber, and other valuable resources including beautiful fall colors. Come and learn about the science and folklore of our favorite trees. This family-friendly walk is suitable for ages 6 and older. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  $12 adults, $9 children (under 18) / $10 adults, $7 children Friends of HLG. Michigan Citizen Planner: Webinar Series - Class 5

The 2017 Master Citizen Planner (MCP) Webinar Series is designed to offer participants the latest updates and information on current topics. Using Zoom Webinar, MSU Extension educators will provide an overview of topics of interest to planning and zoning officials. Webinars are the third Thursday of February, April, June, August, October and December from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Each session is available individually or participants can register for all six at once. MCPs will earn one hour of continuing education per webinar. The fifth session will be: Understanding and Planning for the Shared Economy.
