The MSU Product Center works with packaged food and beverage business owners, along with farmers wanting to diversify their incomes with value-added products and offerings.

To learn more about becoming a client, join the team for a free, virtual seminar designed to help determine whether the MSU Product Center is the right fit for your business needs. Virtual attendance at one seminar is required before registering as a client. Seminars are available twice monthly.

Topics covered include:

  • MSU Product Center services and client expectations
  • Cottage Food Law requirements and restrictions
  • Licensing and regulations for consumer-packaged goods (CPGs)
  • Recipe standardization
  • Food safety requirements and costs
  • Product classifications
  • Production requirements
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Business start-up costs for a packaged food product
  • Financial management and planning
  • Pricing your product
  • Marketing strategies

Business concepts will be reviewed to illustrate the level of preparedness expected of businesses when they become clients. After the completion of the seminar, participants will be given useful business resources and next steps to register as a client. Please note that no recording will be sent after the seminar; if you miss the seminar you registered to attend, you will need to register again to attend on a different date.
