Max Helmberger is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Entomology with research interests in soil invertebrate ecology and and biological control. He received a B.S. in Biology from University of Minnesota Duluth in 2014 and an M.S. in Entomology from Cornell University in 2017. His research focuses on the ecology of manmade decay environments such as compost and the interactions of soil microarthropod communities with insect pests and plant pathogens. He also engages in scientific communication by making stop motion clay animation videos on various biological topics. In his free time, Max enjoys hiking, insect collecting, gaming, and creative writing.
