The MSU Product Center supports innovation and growth for business, industry and entrepreneurs in food, agriculture and natural resource sectors.

Great Lakes Potato Chip Co. is one of the Product Center's client success stories.

In FY2019, the Product Center:

  • Served 772 clients.
  • Supported 447 new jobs by clients.
  • Contributed to $1.5 million in client sales growth.

The MSU Food Processing Innovation Center is an $8 million, 8,000-square-foot facility in Okemos, Michigan, that provides on-site processing and packaging expertise to Michigan residents.

A multi-functional team composed of MSU Extension educators, Food Processing and Innovation Center (FPIC) professionals, health professionals and Michigan stakeholders developed a new way to sanitize N95 masks using a Dry Heat Decontamination System. This new process is awaiting broad approval from the Food and Drug Administration.

The MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology launched its two-year Food Processing, Technology and Safety certificate program in 2019 with support from state and industry stakeholders.

The program is offered in East Lansing, as well as at partner community college locations in Michigan including:
