MSU Product Center Wins the 2018 Industry Ally Award

The MSU Product Center was named an Industry Ally at the 2018 Food & Agriculture Awards, presented by Corp! Magazine and the Michigan Food & Beverage Association.

The Michigan State University Product Center was named an Industry Ally at the 2018 Food & Agriculture Awards, presented by Corp! Magazine and the Michigan Food & Beverage Association. The Product Center also won the overall Industry Ally category, an extra honor recognizing the center’s contribution to Michigan food and agriculture businesses.

“We are truly honored to be recognized with this award,” said Brenda Reau, senior associate director of the Product Center. “Our mission is to provide education to our clients to assist them in being successful with their businesses. Being named as an Industry Ally is a wonderful acknowledgement of the day to day service provided by the our center.”

The awards were given out on April 9, 2018 at the VisTaTech Center on the campus of Schoolcraft College in Livonia, and as an additional prize, the Product Center will be featured in the next issue of Corp! Magazine, which circulates to 20,000 business leaders in Michigan.

Tom Lyons, director of the Product Center, said, "I could not be more proud of our team. These awards are testimony to their hard work and commitment to excellence in all that they do."

Among the award winning businesses, 18 have received assistance from the MSU Product Center. The center had provided help in the form of marketing, packaging, food science, food safety, business planning and strategic planning to Michigan based organizations, ranging from small to large food processors, as well as farms. Clients were recognized in all remaining award categories, including Tasty Trailblazers, Beverage Masters and Growth Gurus.

The MSU Product Center has provided more than 51,000 one-on-one client counseling sessions and helped 634 ventures launch since its opening in 2004, and acts as the state’s hub for information, resources, and guidance for Michigan agriculture, food and natural resource entrepreneurs.
