Funding & Financial Resources

Paying for tuition and overall finances are common stressors among students. Knowing some of the starting places to find funding support can help.

Other Opportunities

Graduate Fellowships

A fellowship provides financial support to graduate students to pursue graduate studies without associated teaching or research responsibilities.

Fellowships are taxable. If you owe MSU any money, MSU will take what you owe directly from this award prior to deposition. If you have federal financial aid, you will want to check to see how this award affects any funding that you receive.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantship (GA) is a generic term referring to financial support of graduate students that results in a stipend and compensation based on performance of defined duties.

Specific graduate assistant appointments are made in one of three categories: Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants (TAs) represented by the MSU Graduate Employees Union (GEU), and Teaching Assistants NOT represented by the MSU Graduate Employees Union.

Money Management & Financial Planning

MSU and the local credit union provide different resources and education on money management and financial planning.
