10 Cents a Meal Pilot: 2016-2017 Evaluation Results

10 Cents a Meal for School Kids and Farms is a pilot project that provides up to 10 cents per meal in match funding from the state of Michigan for participating schools to purchase and serve Michigan-grown fruits, vegetables, and legumes to their students.

Food service directors who participated in school year 2016-2017 completed monthly surveys conducted by CRFS about types of foods purchased, activities to promote and educate about these foods, and their experiences with the program.

The first document summarizes the results of those evaluation surveys, including some information about initial motivations and perceived challenges and some intermediate outcomes, and discusses planned adjustments to the evaluation surveys for the next year of the program (which has been renewed and expanded by the legislature for 2017-2018).
